The panic:

THE Maldives will begin to divert a portion of the country>s billion-dollar
annual tourist revenue into buying a new homeland as an insurance policy
against climate change that threatens to turn the nation>s 300,000 islanders
into environmental refugees. Australia is on the shopping list.

The science:

Our research data do not lend support to any such flooding scenario,
however. On the contrary, we find no signs of any on-going sea level rise.

Not quite true.[/quote]
The maldives Govt is going to divert a portion of the countries
tourist revenue into a fund which will be used as an insurance policy
with a view to finding a new homeland.
Guess what will happen to the money in the fund when nothing happens
to the sea level.
Its just another clever money making scheme based on the fear of AGW
occurring.
And whilst people are gullible enuf to allow Governments to extract
more money from them allegedly to fix AGW, then Govts will keep doing
it.
