Hi,
I>ve read in this Newsgroup that a corrective patch for Win XP was slowing down SETI (and the whole
system I think...), but I can>t find out which one it was. I>m just experiencing 20% speed off since
1 week, and the f.cking autoupdate was turned on...
Can someone give me the patch to uninstall, please ?

The upgrade in question was replaced by Microsoft some weeks ago, and the
problem should not occur anymore.
Just make sure you are fully up to date with your patching. |

I did the last update, but my performances are still lower : 9 h / wu instead of 5 to 6...
My machine : AMD Athlon 1400, 256 Ko RAM, Win XP Pro
Running night long with slow charge of RAM : SetiGate, seti-cmdline-303, Antivirus are only active
applications.
Any clue ?

Hm, the Antivirus certainly needs to be configured as not to scan the SETI work directory
at every write access.
I don>t know if you changed anything in it>s config, but I>d test the performance with the
Antivirus disabled for a while.
I also don>t know if the Updates install any new (likely unneeded) Services. After all,
default WinXP is full of those :p

My Athlon 1900 XP Plus is aparently running normal...with times in the
high 3 hours. However the screen scrolls one line at a time.
