Chick crumbs
Protect them from gulls and crows etc which LOVE nothing better than
duckling horsd>oerve and can polish of a clutch in an hour.
Fresh clean grazing is the best place, they will enjoy the bugs and grubs
they can find.
They will get oils from Mum so can go into water when she decides, they are
so bouyant they have trouble moving sometimes.

Thanks Jill,
Mum and babies are in a Duck house and run, which I leave open all day
so she and her mate can get to the pond,I lock them in at night. I
will keep the run locked until the babies are bigger. Will the Male
Duck be OK to lockup with the babies at night?

Chick crumbs
All domestic standard chick crumbs are unmedicated now so perfectly safe.
Mum will appreciate the boost in nutrition too. You can give her some of her
normal feed in a bowl that the wee ones cannot get into as well if you want.

that depends. --- I am afraid I use that phrase a lot but there is no way to
know how he will react.
IF he pronounces them as his, then mostly they are fine Dads.
IF he rejects them, he can kill them.
Sometimes they are just ignorant and damage them by neglect - trampling etc.
So make sure you observe well for hours before doing so.
Any doubts and give him separate night quarters.

Chick crumbles here in the US can be either medicated or not. Not sure
where Terry is located.

I checked his email addy which is a btinternet.com which gave me the
impression that he was here in the UK but you are absolutely right, Eileen,
having thought of doing all of that, I should have added the word HERE after
crumbs in that first sentence.
