A vet has told me my flock of pullets has (pardon the spelling)
probotriculopely (probo-tric-u-lop-elly) syndrome.
"Probo" affects the stomach, upsets digestions, and causes (in extreme
cases) death by starvation or (in moderate cases) lack of development,
weight gain and delays/failure to lay eggs.
Affected birds seem healthy but at age 26 weeks they still look like birds
of 18 weeks - most have not combed up and are still not laying eggs.
Mortality is quite low - less than 3%.
The vet says little is known about the syndrome - even what causes it and
where it comes from, much less how to treat it. They do not think it is
contagious, but cannot be sure.
Has anyone ever heard of it, any experience, advice, whatever? I>m not sure
if I should cull the birds or give them more time.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Regards
