The Government of Canada has communicated its tacit acceptance / recognition
that all have a right and a duty to refuse to support a society that
participates in plans and preparations that are predicated on a will and
capacity to be party to mass murder.
The following, which was first posted on 2002-07-14, is now offered in order
to help everyone understand the urgency of the need to address the energy
crisis and our will and capacity to murder each other in order to "survive" .

The Tax Refusal / A Special Message
The following is offered with a hope of giving rise to a worldwide input
and exchange of different ideas and mechanisms by which we may yet
develop the means of averting the fast approaching disaster. In
other words: Humanity>s near term survival depends on "YOU"
as much as it depends on "me" or "your neighbor".
Points That Must Be Understood As Being Necessary To Dealing
With Problems That Now Threaten Humanity>s Very Existence:
1. Few are aware of the Thermodynamic laws.
I urge ALL to become familiar with them. By
doing so, concepts such as "Net Energy" and
problems associated with attempts to secure
"useful energy" will be better understood.
2. Our educational systems have failed to provide an adequate
understanding of the physical and chemical properties of
fossil fuels and why that special composition can not be
replaced by any of the few alternative sources of energy
as now known to us.

3. Due to those less than adequate educational systems, we have
always been at war with each other, and Nature; using / wasting
its limited stores of energy and material resources in a manner
that has despoiled our environment. Why? We do so in order to
temporarily satisfy our greed and other, fleeting, desires.
4. In the so-called "Free-World" maximising consumption has replaced
concepts such as "Sustainable Growth"; which, itself, is truly beyond
the scope of rational expectations. "Sustainable Growth" is an
impossibility. Ask your local mathematician for an explanation.
5. "The Madness Of Greed" has led to the development of our will and
capacity
to Mass Murder each other by the Hundreds Of Milions. Worse, it has led
to
such because our educational systems have failed to develop the minds
of children whose parents were born in the shadow of cowardice and dared
not learn of their duty to oppose those whose infection by "The Madness
Of
Greed" led to the spending of lives and fortunes to ensure that the sons
and daughters of fools would always "Heed!" and "Follow Orders!".
6. Too many clocks and counters are ticking away, behind the scenes;
ticking away to a day wherein our madness will leave survivors, if
any, strolling around abandoned war zones with geiger counters
after a raid by needy nations for cheap oil. With no practical
alternatives available, if we fail to control the greed of our
political masters and those who contol them, the sounds
from those geiger counters will be deafening
7. Mathematicians, oil geologists and related professionals are well
aware of the figures I first made available in 1980. Unlike that
offered by M. King Hubbert in 1956, the prediction was similar,
if not in keeping with Hubbert>s calculations that we would
reach "The Peak Of Production Of Conventional Oil" by the
year 2000. Using different data and an "Intuitive Approach",
the 1980 figures suggested that we would reach that "Peak" at
some point between 2012 and 2015. I was wrong. Having
received some excellent spreadsheets and private data that
did not emanate from OPEC Nations or the USGS, my revised
estimates show that the "Peak" will take place by 2008 at the
very latest, and will probably be later calculated / understood
to have taken place at some point in mid-summer 2007.
8. The UK Energy Minister has said that the "Peak" will happen by 2005.
(Added this November 18th, 2003: That figure is now the subject of
debate with some having changed their assumptions and now suggesting
that the "Peak" will take place by 2010. I maintain my view.)
As his department based their estimates on Dr. Colin Campbell>s data and
interpretations, I will not argue against them, merely using that fact as
a "pointer" to the reality that the world>s governments have long been
aware
of the coming "Peak" for over 22 years, yet they made a decision to
remain
silent. We should ask: "Why?".
9. Marvin Greg wrote:

to its land and its people. It was in desperate need of funds to make

War was a war waged against the Russian people. Let us hope that
President Bush does not invade Iraq to topple Saddam Hussein. "
10. Marvin>s concerns give rise to the reality that Saddam Hussein has done,
or is attempting to do, no less than that which Josef Stalin was
determined to achieve; a military strength that would deny those
who would readily Mass Murder millions, the "Peace Of Mind" that
they could "Safely Do So" without risking a similar fate being
suffered by their Nation and families.
(Added this November 18th, 2003: We now know that we were deceived
and misled. All that Saddam Hussein was doing was based on a strategy
of having nearby nations, especially Iran, believe that he had the
means to oppose them, if need be.)
11. The plans to attack Iraq have NOTHING to do with any possibility that
Hussein has been successful in developing his own Nuclear and other
Weapons Of Mass Murder. It has EVERYTHING to do with the figures
that such as Hubbert and I presented to our Governments so long ago.
12. We are but a few year away from a TOTAL ECONOMIC CRASH. Regardless
of the "Economic Escalators / Multiplier Effects" that a war for the
oil of Iraq AND IRAN might spread a "Special and Magical Gift Of
Rejuvenation", it will be an illusory and truly temporary
gain(?), as we will have traded our consciences FOR A FEW MORE
BARRELS OF OIL and the chance of being able to drive, for a few
more years, to the corner store in our SUV>s in order to buy a
six-pack and a pizza. I mentioned that our educational systems
have failed us. Do you now understand why???
13. The possibility that the world>s governments will try to avoid the
coming
problems by printing money can not be overlooked. It must be
addressed as the coming "Peak Of Conventional Oil Production"
will deny us the energy to build all the wheel-barrows that
we will need to bring those dollars to some store for a loaf
of bread.
14. As the global oil shortage grows, the economies of smaller countries
("Insignificant" is what such as Greenspan and similar would call
them.), will crash, allowing "More Capable Nations" to buy the oil,
at reasonable prices than would otherwise have been the case. It
matters not. That relief will be temporary. At least, if we can
be permitted some hope, such should give those larger and more
powerful nations time to prepare for the unavoidable eventuality
that there will be no, or very little conventional oil in the
year 2040, or soon thereafter. Will they so "Prepare"?? Not if
their citizens choose to remain ignorant or in denial about
the coming crisis.
15. It is time we know the difference between what is "Right"
and what is "Wrong"; and it is definitely time that we
start to act accordingly. Will we????
