I watched two network newses last night, but can>t recall which one did the SUV
tax gimmick write-off story.
I think it was Dan Rather, but maybe Pete Jennings
It seems the big 6000 pound boogers have cost the (other) taxpayers something
around a billion bucks in tax avoidance/credit/deduction/write-off.
I certainly do readily concede the SUVs provide jobs for trhe auto industry
(labor & management etal), and pleasure & utility fo their happy consumers.
Too bad the Congresssjerks can>t come up with a simple incentive plan to
substantively partially solve our traffic & pollution problems.
Let me suggest one (scroll down approx half a page at the cohen agenda website)

I>ve got one, if you are not a government official and you are caught
driving a car you are dragged out the car and shot on the spot. I think
that would be incentive enough for most people to stop driving those evil
machines which would solve all of our traffic problems and a lot of our
pollution problems. And it would even allow the elite of us (I>m refering
to the goverment types of course) still drive. |

re: shooting us on the spot for driving our dumb & ugly machines
yeah, an interneter often is too glib for his own good, i concede, but please
just take a gander at a simple occam-razored rather obvious common sensical
concept noted-linked
over-night, we partially solve a terrible predicament of the era, until
something better is brought about

Since smaller vehicles make annoying crunching noises when crunched by a
SUV owner, it is those smaller vehicles that clearly should be banned.
Just on their annoyance factor alone.
