As you may know, i converted the articles i wrote back in
June about our Sister Planet Selene, to .html web pages!
So now you can read about how our planet Selene needs
to be reclassified anytime you want to! It>s high time for
us to "reinstate" our Moon back to the status it held for
hundreds, perhaps thousands of years! It is time for all
of us to accept that Selene is NOT just a mere satellite of
Earth. The Moon is a full-fledged major planet in its own
right!
And now you can read all about *why* anytime you like!
So please do go see the official website of...
THE PLANET MOON

This website is dedicated to one of the most prolific and
fascinating science and sf writers who ever lived:

was instrumental in helping to shape this official proposal
to the IAU (the International Astronomical Union).

More planet than moon like, I would agree with Isaac Asimov.
India will soon enough clear up a few dozen matters that our DARPA and
their NASA/Apollo missions either forgot, neglected or refused to
accomplish.
Besides their primary monochrome at 5 m/pixel and of their raw mineral
color/hue saturated images at 80 m/pixel, plus hosting several other
orbital mission remote science objectives, it seem the next part of
this ISRO Chandrayaan mission should become extremely interesting.
http://www.isro.org/chandrayaan/htmls/mip.htm
Moon Impact Probe (MIP)
The impact probe of 35 kg mass will be attached at the top deck of the
main orbiter and will be released during the final 100 km x 100 km
orbit at a predetermined time to impact at a pre-selected location.
During the descent phase, it is spin-stabilized. The total flying time
from release to impact on Moon is around 25 minutes. The primary
objective is to demonstrate the technologies required for landing the
probe at a desired location on the Moon and to qualify some of the
technologies related to future soft landing missions. Major
Objectives:
· Design, development and demonstration of technologies required for
impacting a probe at the desired location on the Moon.
· Qualify technologies required for future soft landing missions.
· Scientific exploration of the Moon from close range.
Payload Configuration Details: There will be three instruments on the
Moon Impact Probe
· Radar Altimeter – for measurement of altitude of the Moon Impact
Probe and for qualifying technologies for future landing missions. The
operating frequency band is 4.3 GHz ± 100 MHz.
· Video Imaging System – for acquiring images of the surface of the
Moon during the descent at a close range. The video imaging system
consists of analog CCD camera.
· Mass Spectrometer – for measuring the constituents of tenuous
lunar atmosphere during descent. This instrument will be based on a
state-of-the-art, commercially available Quadrupole mass spectrometer
with a mass resolution of 0.5 amu and sensitivities to partial
pressure of the order of 10-14 torr.

We are informed that roughly 40% of the meteor and asteroid impact
generated debris created and otherwise displaced by their having
encountered our moon, as such landed right here on Earth. However,
even taking but a highly conservative 10% of the crater volumetric
displaced crust would likely represent 7.35 gigatonnes as having ended
or terminated here on Earth. In other words, it should be hard not to
find moon basalt right here on Earth.
