Hello,
I>m scheduled for a couple surgical procedures this month(arthroscopic
shoulder and an EGD), and I had some concerns about the anesthesia, as
ive heard that TMD problems are caused or made worse by the
intubation, and was hoping Smd could help me address these concerns of
mine. Especially the EGD has me worried, since they basically strap a
tube into your mouth before injecting you with a a camera down your
esophagus.
Thanks |

Most of the TMJ problems are caused by clenching, not opening.
If you do have limited opening, of course this should be discussed with
your anesthesiologist beforehand. Perhaps a nasotracheal intubation can
be done.
