Shells are areas that surround the center of an atom
do mean their orbital pattern is round as they orbit around the
nucleus
You may have heard of the SPDF system before. Chemists also use
letters to name the orbitals around a nucleus. They use the letters
"k,l,m,n,o,p, and q". The "k" shell is the one closest to the nucleus
and "q" is the farthest away.

what about 1 Coordinate Axes for Rectangular
Spherical Shell Element
For the shown system of curvilinear
coordinates, the simplified strain displacement
relationship for the spherical shell elements Where u, v and w are the
displacements in the
x, y and z axes; y x å å , and xy å are the in-plane
direct and shearing strains; kx, ky, and kxy are the
changes in-direct and twisting curvatures and r is
the principal radii of curvatures.
The above six components of strain can be
considered independent, as they are a function of
the three displacements u, v and w and must satisfy
three additional compatibility equations.

Read my article on the positive charge distribution in atoms in arXiv:
0806.2635. The positive charge cloud is similar to the negative one
but it is rescaled down by the factor (M_e/M_nucl). Its size can be
made big if a highly excited atimic state is considered.
