Oh she does!

I just can>t remember. I learned "diolch" from an old man I accosted in the
charity shop in Lampeter. He was so helpful that I felt ashamed that I might
forget it so I practised and practised until I got back to Ann>s. Then
forgot and had to ask her.

I think it means Thank you. Or Thanks. It>s what everyone says when leaving
a shop - or something like that. Still don>t know what Yes and No are or
Please. So all I can say is Thanks.

It>s been a pleasure to say it - well, to mumble it. I sometimes seem to get

I know more Icelandic than Welsh and that, with Danish, is reputed to be the
most difficult language :-(

I know more Russian than Welsh.

Could make my way round France if I wanted to.

But Welsh ... I really have tried ... honestly.

very impressive

one of the Welsh words I can remember and spell [I think] is
Croeso =welcome

maybe we should all bring together as many words of welcome in as many
languages as we can all muster to welcome new posters with

Failte - is the gaelic

Only Welsh words I know are place names from around here in PA. Bryn
Mawr, Bryn Athyn, Uwchlyn, Pennlyn, etc. :-) Seriously funny getting
new residents to see if they can pronounce "Uwchlyn."

I remember seeing a truck or something with Kia Ora on the side of it while
I was in London. For a patriotic Kiwi it caught my attention I can tell you.
Then I realised it was nothing to do with the Maori Kia Ora and I though
Huh! Cheek!
Another Maori 'phrase' is Kia kaha. It means Be strong. I like that one. it
has strength in the sound.
