I just can>t remember. I learned "diolch" from an old man I accosted in the
charity shop in Lampeter. He was so helpful that I felt ashamed that I might
forget it so I practised and practised until I got back to Ann>s. Then
forgot and had to ask her.
I think it means Thank you. Or Thanks. It>s what everyone says when leaving
a shop - or something like that. Still don>t know what Yes and No are or
Please. So all I can say is Thanks.

the same back.
I know more Icelandic than Welsh and that, with Danish, is reputed to be the

Only Welsh words I know are place names from around here in PA. Bryn
Mawr, Bryn Athyn, Uwchlyn, Pennlyn, etc. :-) Seriously funny getting
new residents to see if they can pronounce "Uwchlyn." |

I remember seeing a truck or something with Kia Ora on the side of it while
I was in London. For a patriotic Kiwi it caught my attention I can tell you.
Then I realised it was nothing to do with the Maori Kia Ora and I though
Huh! Cheek!
Another Maori 'phrase' is Kia kaha. It means Be strong. I like that one. it
has strength in the sound.

names.... I>ve got those 8 babies which need naming so I>ll have to go and
research some appropriate names.
I wonder if Kiri Te Kanawa would mind if I used Kiri... I>ll have to pick

One of the chicks is already more or less named. I think it>s a male so it>s
Hiawatha. Not Maori I know but it has a mohawk. If it turns out to be a hen,
it>ll be Pocahontas.....
The spelling is probably all up the wall but never mind, chickens can>t
