Hello all,
I>m an old "slugger" (P200MMX machine, 32meg RAM, 500 odd WU>s, 2.201 years
CPU time)
I had, reluctantly, to stop crunching because SETI was overloading my
system... but due to a rather
impressive HD implosion... and a bonus at work... I decided to splurge out
on a new machine.
My new system is (not wishing to brag)
AMD 2400+ CPU
512meg of DDR (400) Ram
600kb/s broadband (will be installed Tuesday)
o/s Windows XP-pro
Hey!!! from a P200MMX this is Heaven <satisified smug grin>
Anyway, to my questions...
1. Which client should I use? (CLI preferred, I cannot find one for XP, will
NT do?)
2. Which queue handler do you recommend?
3. Any further "add-on>s" you recommend?
Thank you all for any help you can render in my plight.
John (Jock) Clark
Slugger (as was)

John,
I have 3 XP Pro machines at home, all running CLI seti.. the easiest way to
set it up, which includes Seti Spy and Seti Driver, is to download from the
following link:
http://members.home.nl/marcel.zuiderveld/
And hey presto, before you know it you will be crunching wu>s in about 2.8
hrs each :)
(Note, after installing, set ' seti client priority' to low in seti driver..
it won>t make any difference to wu times, but in normal mode can make some
apps run very slow..

*snip*
Windows XP IS NT--v5.1 to be exact....you want to use the 386NT
client. I would also recommend the SETISpy/SETIDriver combo. |

FYI: By default, SetiDriver now runs the CLI at low priority in my Setup...
