Ravens Wide Receiver Turns Offensive

Baltimore, MARYLAND - October 28, 2003 - Baltimore Ravens wide
receiver Travis Taylor and his wife wore inappropriate and offensive
costumes Monday night at a Goodwill charity event. The Black
couple>s costumes promoted anything but goodwill. You might say that
this wide receiver decided to be offensive: Taylor and his wife,
Rashidah, showed up dressed as Kobe Bryant and the woman he raped.
Words printed on Mrs. Taylor>s costume said "Three Men In 3 Days" --
a crude and insensitive reference to the victim in the Bryant case
allegedly having had sex with other men before the incident with
Kobe.
The Ravens managers told reporters that they have no problem with
Travis Taylor dressing up as Kobe Bryant. Would they also have no
problem with Travis Taylor and wife dressing up as O. J. Simpson and
his murdered wife?
This incident alone shows the level of crudity and cruelty, and the
lack of morality, that are routinely accepted in the Black
community, even towards their own people.

It>s a wonder a store wasn>t selling this as a pre-packaged costume for
$29.95.

I can understand folks being uneasy about it. But you might want to
cite an average sports columnist on this story, rather than a racist
web site ("I am a White person of good moral character, with no
ineligibility. I am in agreement with the goals and the program of the
National Alliance , and I want to participate in the Alliance>s effort
to build a secure and healthy future for my race by becoming a
member.") |
