|
|
Many years ago, professor Fateman wrote a number of highly
critical pieces about Mathematica. Since professor Fateman>s pedigree in
the computer algebra world is most imposing, I for one would be
interested to learn whether, after all the Mathematica releases in the
intervening years, he still harbors serious misgivings about this system. |

Jens: I make no mystery of my email address, so you can address
any particular questions you might have to me. Unfortunately I cannot
respond
directly to you unless you tell me your address.
The review papers I>ve written on Mathematica indicate cases of
design choices that I regard as erroneous. The defense, to the
extent that there has been one, has usually
been something like "I meant to do that", in the immortal words of
Peewee Herman

It is up to you to decide if these design choices cause you problems
or if, in your opinion, they are
likely to cause other people problems.
The more recent review (of version 6) may provide you with more data.

Thanks for your reply. I was asking for a public opinion, rather
a private, email one, on the basis that many could benefit from it.
Thanks for your link. |
