it is not a good practice to leave droppings around to pack. they contain
parasites that give a condition called cocciciosis. the more they peck it the
greater the chance of getting it. bad stuff...please search on it if you dont
already know about it. Droppings will also be the source of an obnoxious smell
when it rains. i use a flat shovel and scrape down to dirt once a month in the
pens ( usually an inch or two) then take it off to the compost heap.
that gets it down to dirt for the crop. it also removes lots of bugs.
if the area is enclosed, ticks are possible. most recommend a good bleach
scrub and rinse out come springtime. every one needs a good spring clean.
they are fowl not foul!!!
