These are at least vaguely related to geology, unlike so much of the
"discussion" in the group lately. I was "forced" to go to Denver for
work a couple of weeks ago, so I naturally had to take the scenic route
there and homewards. These were roadside fill on the banks of one of
the streams I stopped at for photographic opportunities.

They just stood the truck on the bite ...probably will not last long
Incidentally this is not a rotary but a percussion hole.

But the drill bit *does* slowly rotate as it penetrates, as evidenced by
the twisting of the "star" through the hole... Even if it>s a
percussion drill :-)

in that case, dear Jim, those who carried out that job rushed through
it, putting revs and plenty of pressure on the bite ... this is why
you 've that odd shape ! Obviously they were either chased by a bear
or late for a meeting with a cold Swan beer at the public bar ! :-)
( please cross wrong answer )

If the great Sherlock Holmes was there by the way I am sure he could
draw another ten conclusions from the evidence... like say the wife of
the head driller was playing cricket at the time.
