Humanity has used up all of Earth>s natural bounty for the year and is
now borrowing resources from 2009.

Each year humanity>s debt with Earth grows bigger. Last year the
supply of natural resources ran out at the beginning of October while
this year all surplus ended a month earlier. Put another way last year
humans consumed 30% more natural resources than what the planet is
capable of reproducing in a whole year. This year humans will
technically consume 140% of Earth>s total resources.

Either humanity cuts down on the resources it consumes annually or
increases Earth>s productivity by an extra 40 percent. Currently the
global productivity ledger shows that the supply of natural resources
- such as trees and fish - is shrinking while a variety of toxic
wastes and emission pollutants like methane, hydrogen monoxide and
carbon dioxide continue to accumulate into a widening danger zone.
