Look, there isn>t even a recession yet. Growth is at over 3%. And
anyone smarter than a plate of deep fried psilocybin mushrooms
knows that tax cuts don>t cause such things anyway. One thing
that will cause a recession, of course, is the tightening of monetary
policy, which Bernanke is bound to put off until after the election.
Tightening monetary policy is inevitable given the smell of inflation
in the air, and it will end the oil bubble as well. But it will cause
a recession... after the election. So, let>s hear it for Seventies
nostalgia and one-term Presidencies, eh?

seize travelers' laptops and other electronic devices at the border and hold
then for unspecified periods the Washington Post reported on Friday.

Under recently disclosed Department of Homeland Security policies, such
seizures may be carried out without suspicion of wrongdoing, the newspaper
said, quoting policies issued on July 16 by two DHS agencies.
Agents are empowered to share the contents of seized computers with other
agencies and private entities for data decryption and other reasons, the
newspaper said.

DHS officials said the policies applied to anyone entering the country,
including U.S. citizens, and were needed to prevent terrorism.
