and keep your left away near high voltage, protects
your heart.
I was converting a little 5" CRT to an oscilloscope,
and used those wee Radio Shack jumpers to put the
6KV on the anode...oops.
I regained consciousness in time to watch the damn
CRT hit the concrete basement floor, boom, it was
interesting the way I blacked out, hard to describe.
Anyway the floor was slightly damp and my wrist
brushed the 6KV and grounded threw my right foot.

It had to be the dampness (it was humid day) of
the floor otherwise concrete is a good insulator,
when it>s dry.

Another contributor to the accident was that I had
worked with the unit for a few days and being a cute
minature CRT disregarded safety, 6KV isn>t fun.

Yes I did. But it wasn>t fun. The wiring in this place is comprised of
Romex, BX, and tube and post. The building is a 108 years old so that
explains it.

Concrete is not that good an HV insulator. One of its ingredients
is water.

Concrete is never that dry, unless it is in the middle of a roaring
fire, and crumbling from the heat. Without water, concrete has no
strength.

procedures would be to ground it to the same node as one>s bench
grounding system utilizes for ESD protection.

Concrete... ALL types that I am aware of, are conductive both when
poured and once cured.

Concrete is strong because the lye in it etches its way into the
particulate granules, and bonds them together during the cure process.

SOME water remains, but I never learned it as being the main mechanism
for the medium>s strength.

I wonder how Moon mud-bricks would test out. :-)
