Yeah, sort of like Gee-Dubya>s idea to invade Iraq based on WMD...

You are absolutely right. Conservation is a bunch of horseshit.
Conservation IS good. Loony reactionary response to a theoretical
boogie man is not.
Who needs conservation now, when gas is $4/gal and we can pump some
more drops out years from now by stepping up our domestic drilling?
And that what it would be - mere drops in the worldwide oil market.
Horse-shit. Our OCS is estimated to contain more reserves than the
rest of the world combined.

we still need oil for autos and petrochem processes.People cannot convert
their present autos to run on wind, solar,or even nuclear power, nor
biodiesel.
Alk is inefficient and uses already scarce water in horrendous quantities.
Even with conservation, our money goes out of the country to foreigners, and
the chances of environmental disasters from tankers are FAR greater than
from modern oil platforms/pipelines,as evidenced by Gulf platforms after
Katrina. It turns out the ocean floors spew more oil naturally than all the
platforms together.
We have the oil, let>s drill and pump it.
