Australian Bureau of Meteorology In Denial Over Global Cooling
July 28 2008
Typical. The Bureau of Meteorology quashes the lastest evidence of
global cooling:
The Bureau of Meteorology says reports of snow falling in Sydney today
are misleading. Peter Zemerski from the bureau says it was not snow, it
was soft hail.
UPDATE
Reader Gerard says the "soft hail" at his North Shore Sydney home is
just as cold as snow:
UPDATE 2
Reader Tazzz:
Oooh I believe, oh lordy I believe. The temperatures are rising and the
hail and snow is falling. Oh I believe.

"In scientific circles, C02 is referred to as a `trace gas' that, for
hundreds of thousands of years, has remained at or below five
ten-thousandths of the atmosphere by volume. Even among the so-called
`greenhouse gases' (GHG), C02 accounts for less than 4%, with water
vapour being by far the most significant GHG. C02 is clearly a
miniscule component of the massive mechanisms that create climate and
cause climate change."

Why instead of coal u could use tidal or wave or even wind there
other
sources. I dont think our government is solving the issue of our
global problem and i dont think the goverment is you using all the
sources they could. They are just saying use coal and they not saying
tidal or wind and i reckon the coal is crapping up the planet and
atmosphere and they are not giving a crap about it. |

Snow in Winter. What a concept!
***************
Snow in tropical Queensland, now that>s a concept!!!!!
Snow In Tropical Queensland, Rain In Sydney And Icy Delays In Adelaide
July 29, 2008
Snow in Queensland, and colder weather to come
Sydneysiders shivering in bitter cold, driving rain
Rain or snow - check your local weather forecast
IT has snowed in Queensland, and it will pay to rug up because even
colder weather is expected tomorrow.
Snow, sleet, wind and rain ripped through the state>s Granite Belt and
southern Darling Downs, bringing freezing conditions yesterday.
The big chill was felt across virtually all over the eastern seaboard
and the ski fields at Perisher in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains
enjoyed a 15cm dump of snow.
In Sydney, the city>s maximum temperature struggled to top 14C, with
the mercury plunging 3C in an hour mid-afternoon, down to just 10C at
3pm (AEST).
Meanwhile, one of Adelaide>s coldest mornings forced the delay of
flights yesterday as ice formed on the wings of planes.
Adelaide Airport managing director Phil Baker said up to 400 passengers
were due to leave about 7am but their flights were delayed until about
8.15am, when the air temperature increased.
Shivering Sydneysiders should receive a reprieve from the cold and rain
tomorrow.
But Brisbane is tipped to experience temperatures down to 6C early
tomorrow and Thursday.
Yesterday, Granite Belt Wine Country marketing director Michele Cozzi
said snow was reported at Eukey, south of Stanthorpe, and at Sugarloaf
Forest to the east while sleet was recorded at Stanthorpe, Glen Aplin
and Applethorpe.
Forecaster Gavin Holcombe said no records were broken despite widespread
cold conditions.
"In my experience we get snow maybe once a year around the Granite
Belt,'' he said.
Dairy farmer Wes Judd of Yangan, near Warwick, was moving about 350 head
of cattle into shelter yesterday, as freezing conditions hit his farm.
"It>s pretty cold,'' he said at noon. "I haven>t taken my coat and
beanie off yet.''
Snowflakes
Nat Burton of Thulimbah near Stanthorpe said the area had had three
small snowfalls but there had been more to the south at Eukey.
"It was just beautiful; huge snowflakes falling on a gorgeous winter>s
day,'' Ms Burton said.
"I>ve got three layers on, with a scarf and gloves and my feet are still
cold."
Temperatures for Brisbane over the next week are predicted to range from
6C to 25C, with fresh southwest winds.
In Sydney, the rain is expected to ease with the city expecting sunny
breaks tomorrow and a top of 17C.
Thursday is tipped to reach 18C, and a much more pleasant 20C is
predicted for Friday.

Hadley Center to deniers: We are STILL warming
The top climate scientists at the UK’s Hadley Center for Climate Prediction
get no respect. No matter how many times they try to explain that their data
clearly shows the world is warming (see “Hadley Center to delayers: We’re
warming, not cooling“), people, including those commenting on this very
blog, keep insisting their data shows otherwise (see here).
As I wrote before, the 8 warmest years in the 150 global temperature record
are, according to the Hadley Center, in order, 1998, 2005, 2003, 2002, 2004,
2006, and 2007. After the Hadley folk wrote a bunch of essays debunking
standard denier myths (see here and below), they actually felt compelled to
publish another piece on April 29 (here), pointing out again:
The global climate is currently being influenced by the cold phase of this
oscillation, known as La Niña (see Expert speaks on La Niña). The current La
Niña began to develop in early 2007, having a significant cooling effect on
the global average temperature. Despite this, 2007 was one of the ten
warmest years since global records began in 1850 with a temperature some 0.4
°C above average. Indeed, the years 2001-2007 recorded an average of 0.44 °C
above the 1961-90 average, which is 0.21 °C warmer than corresponding values
for the years 1991-2000.
Another way of looking at the warming trend is that 1999 was a similar
year to 2007 as far as the cooling effects of La Niña are concerned. The
global temperature in 1999 was 0.26 °C above the 1961-90 average, whereas
2007 was 0.37 °C above this average - 0.11 °C warmer than 1999. |

The problem is the earth is in fact cooling, if by cooling you mean the
average temperature is lower. The key and only specific prediction of AGW is
that it gets higher, not lower. So the only actual prediction made by AGW
directly is contradicted by the evidence. So now somebody has a complicated
theory which explains why the AGW theory is correct, even though it
predicted the exact opposite of what actually happened. I await their proof
that black equals white with keen anticipation. |

You are out of date. The latest daily satellite reading disagrees. 28-
July-2008 was 0.024 C warmer than 27-July-2008, 0.281 C warmer than
average. Warmer than 28-July-2007 as well by 0.063 C. Warmer than 28-
July-2006 as well, by 0.146 C.
Now June had days below the average. But since 7-July, it has been above
average.
