Researchers have invented a new material that will make cars even more
efficient, by converting heat wasted through engine exhaust into
electricity.

Some form of thermocouple maybe???? Or something more radical?
Might recover a 'little' bit of the heat lost down the tail pipe. Can
you give a percentage please??????
Problem is that conventional, fueled vehicles are so inefficient
overall that very little of the now expensive gasoline, diesel,
natural gas, lpg etc. etc is actualy converted to moving the vehicle!
And producing say, hydrogen, using electricity produced by burning
coal or oil etc. doesn>t make any sense at all!
Electrcity produced by wind, wave or hydro (falling water) can be
somewhat more efficient but then to be used in vehcles has to be
stored in (heavy) batteries!
So what is this 'Material'?
