The 'prediliction' to fly South rather than North... to respond
differently to a pheremone.. to eat something not eaten before... might
prove advantageous.
The "vampire finches" of the Galapagos is an example.
I imagine changes in behavior occur inside the skull, and 'Lord only
knows' the degree of complexity found there. Thus, the growth, development,
and arrangement of neurons could be affected at any time during development
and be inheritable.
