2008/08/01 - DNA has announced the latest release of their advanced
logistic optimization component "JOpt.NET 2.2.3" that enables software
vendors to enhance their products with multidimensional vehicle
routing and scheduling facilities. Since version 2.2.3 JOpt now comes
with a KML export function in order to depict the optimization result
on Google Earth or Google Maps. JOpt.NET creates an optimum schedule
in terms of truck>s payload to empty ratio and minimizes overall road
mileage. Given any arbitrary number of jobs, JOpt.NET determines the
most cost effective truck allocation including driver>s attributes or
skills, capacities, working times and multiple time windows at tour
stops.

"Since JOpt has been originally designed for software developers that
want to add special expertise features like vehicle route optimization
to their software product, one design paradigm of JOpt was that JOpt
is open to any kind of GIS system and hence doesn>t incorporate any
own mapping otr GIS features. However, it can really ease things a lot
when having a visual output of the optimization results when beginning
to make the first experience with JOpt. At this stage the library may
not already have been integrated into larger programm frame and
therefore a KML interface is an easy and smart approach to get visual
outputs without any further efford", says Vincent Mayer, Technical
Product Manager at DNA.
