Serum omega-3 fatty acids are associated with ultimatum bargaining
behavior. Emanuele E, Brondino N, Re S, Bertona M, Geroldi D
Physiol Behav 2008 Oct 8.
In the ultimatum game (UG), two players are involved to bargain over a
division of a given sum of money.
The proposer makes an ultimatum offer of a fraction of money, while
the responder can either accept or reject the proposer>s decision.
In case of rejection of the proposed splitting by the responder,
neither player gets anything. Adverse psychological reactions are
deemed to play a role in the rejection of unfair offers.
Low serum levels of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids have been
linked to impulse control and hostility.
This study examined the serum omega-3 and omega-6 fractions in
relation to the ultimatum bargaining behavior. Participants were sixty
economy students (31 males and 29 females, mean age: 24.4+/-2.3 years)
who played a euro10 ultimatum game.
Ultimatum offers were constrained to be euro5 (proposer keeps euro5)
or euro1 (proposer keeps euro9) to generate a roughly even split
between fair (5:5) and unfair (1:9) offers.
Fasting serum alpha-linolenic (ALA), eicosapentaenoic (EPA),
docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), linoleic acid (LA) and arachidonic acid
(AA) were assayed with gas chromatography. In participants who
rejected unfair offers there was a significant depletion of ALA, EPA
and DHA.
Moreover, the ratio of serum omega-3/omega-6 fatty acids was
significantly lower in patients who rejected unfair offers as compared
to those who did not.
The results of this study suggest that a depletion of the serum
omega-3 fatty acids is associated with rejections of unfair ultimatum
offers in an experimental neuroeconomic setting.

Prisoners given supplements in new trial
By Shane Starling
09-Sep-2008 - An Oxford University study being conducted in three UK
prisons is investigating the link between nutrition and behaviour.
It follows a 2002 UK trial that found consumption of food supplements
could reduce anti-social behaviour in teenagers as well as 30 years
inquiry into the subject by one of the lead researchers, professor
Alexander Schauss, PhD, FACN, senior director of natural and medicinal
products research at natural products consultancy, AIBMR Life
Sciences.
Schauss noted more than 20 controlled clinical trials carried out in
state and county juvenile and adult institutions confirmed that diet
could be used to reduce the incidence of antisocial behavior by up to
60 percent.
The new study, one of the largest ever conducted, is being funded by a
$2.6m (€1.83m) grant from the Wellcome Trust, the UK>s largest medical
research charity.
Behaviour modification
The study aims to find out if nutrient levels required for optimum
brain function are also responsible for behaviour modification.
Similar studies carried out in the US and Europe have determined the
link between nutrition and behaviour.
"Seeing the level of research on diet and crime reach this level of
financial support by the medical community is heartening,” said
Schauss.
“But it took over 30 years, even though the evidence was there back in
the 1970s."
The director of the Wellcome Trust stated: "If this study shows
nutritional supplementation affects behaviour, it could have profound
significance for nutrition guidelines not only within the criminal
justice system, but in the wider community, in schools, for example.
We are all used to nutritional guidelines for our physical health,
but
this study could lead to revisions taking into account our mental
health, as well."
The researchers will investigate the affect of different food
supplements on behaviour compared to groups on placebo.
"It is my hope that we see better nutrition education and start with
pre-conceptual care programs that focus on nutrition and other
lifestyle factors and behaviors that can decrease the risk of
antisocial behavior," Schauss said.
Schauss is the author of a book called Diet, Crime and Delinquency,
written in 1978 and which posited the idea that diet and behaviour
were closely linked.
The study is being conducted in conjunction with the Institute of
Psychiatry at Imperial College, University of London, the University
of Surrey, the University of Liverpool and the Medical Research
Council on Human Nutrition Research.
The 2002 study gave essential fatty acid supplements to 18-21-year-old
prisoners and found antisocial behaviour was reduced by 37 per cent
compared to placebo.

Reward deficiency syndrome: a biogenetic model for the diagnosis and
treatment of impulsive, addictive, and compulsive behaviors.
Blum K, Braverman ER, Holder JM, Lubar JF, Monastra VJ, Miller D,
Lubar JO, Chen TJ, Comings DE
Department of Biological Sciences, University of North Texas, Denton,
Texas, USA.
The dopaminergic system, and in particular the dopamine D2 receptor,
has been implicated in reward mechanisms.
The net effect of neurotransmitter interaction at the mesolimbic brain
region induces "reward" when dopamine (DA) is released from the neuron
at the nucleus accumbens and interacts with a dopamine D2 receptor.
"The reward cascade" involves the release of serotonin, which in turn
at the hypothalmus stimulates enkephalin, which in turn inhibits GABA
at the substania nigra, which in turn fine tunes the amount of DA
released at the nucleus accumbens or "reward site." It is well known
that under normal conditions in the reward site DA works to maintain
our normal drives.
In fact, DA has become to be known as the "pleasure molecule"
and/or the "antistress molecule."
When DA is released into the synapse, it stimulates a number a DA
receptors (D1-D5) which results in increased feelings of well-being
and stress reduction.
A consensus of the literature suggests that when there is a
dysfunction in the brain reward cascade, which could be caused by
certain genetic variants (polygenic), especially in the DA system
causing a hypodopaminergic trait, the brain of that person requires a
DA fix to feel good.
This trait leads to multiple drug-seeking behavior.
This is so because alcohol, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, nicotine, and
glucose all cause activation and neuronal release of brain DA, which
could heal the abnormal cravings. Certainly after ten years of study
we could say with confidence that carriers of the DAD2 receptor A1
allele have compromised D2 receptors.
Therefore lack of D2 receptors causes individuals to have a high risk
for multiple addictive, impulsive and compulsive behavioral
propensities, such as severe alcoholism, cocaine, heroin, marijuana
and nicotine use, glucose bingeing, pathological gambling, sex
addiction, ADHD, Tourette>s Syndrome, autism, chronic violence,
posttraumatic stress disorder, schizoid/avoidant cluster, conduct
disorder and antisocial behavior.
In order to explain the breakdown of the reward cascade due to both
multiple genes and environmental stimuli (pleiotropism) and resultant
aberrant behaviors, Blum united this hypodopaminergic trait under the
rubric of a reward deficiency syndrome.

How HIV Vaccine Might Have Increased Odds Of Infection
ScienceDaily (Nov. 6, 2008) — In September 2007, a phase II HIV-1
vaccine trial was abruptly halted when researchers found that the
vaccine may have promoted, rather than prevented, HIV infection. A new
study by a team of researchers at the Montpellier Institute of
Molecular Genetics in France shows how the vaccine could have enhanced
HIV infection.
The study, led by Matthieu Perreau, will be published online on
November 3 of the Journal of Experimental Medicine.
The HIV-1 vaccine used in Merck>s STEP trial relied on a weakened form
of a common cold virus, Adenovirus 5 (Ad5), to carry bits of HIV into
the body. Those bits would presumably trigger the immune system to
fight off later infection with the virus. One worry about the Ad5
vaccine vector was that widespread immunity to adenoviruses might
cause the vaccine to be ousted from the body before an anti-HIV
response could develop. Yet three years after the trial began,
researchers realized that more of the vaccine recipients who had prior
immunity to adenoviruses had been infected with HIV than those without
such immunity.
The new study shows how the presence of long-lasting Ad5-specific
antibodies—generated during natural infections with adenoviruses—may
have altered the immune response to the HIV vaccine. In the presence
of antibodies from Ad5-immune individuals, HIV infection spread
through cell cultures three times faster than without them. The
antibodies tethered the Ad5-HIV vaccine to receptors on the surface of
specialized immune cells, called antigen-presenting cells (APCs), thus
facilitating entry of the vaccine into the cell. Once inside,
components of the vaccine then activated these cells, allowing the
APCs in turn to activate T cells. Since HIV prefers to infect active T
cells, the virus was thus provided with more cells to infect.
Merck>s vaccine may have made it to phase II trials because primates,
used in the phase 1 trials, don>t naturally come in contact with human
adenoviruses, and therefore the potential problem went unrecognized.

Barbara Hogan (l) drank champagne with the activists
South African Aids campaigners have serenaded the new health minister
and rejoiced at the departure of her controversial predecessor.
A group of activists sang outside the Cape Town flat of Barbara Hogan
and drank champagne with her.
They have long called for the dismissal of Manto Tshabalala-Msimang,
known as "Dr Beetroot" for her advocacy of healthy eating rather than
drugs.
Some 5.5 million South Africans are HIV-positive.
This is more than in any other country in the world.
'Ecstatic'
The government of former President Thabo Mbeki has long been
criticised for not doing enough to distribute the anti-retroviral
drugs that scientists say are the most effective way of combating
Aids.
Dr Tshabalala-Msimang said the drugs were too expensive for South
Africa and warned of possible harmful side-effects.
Manto Tshabalala-Msimang is now a minister in the president>s office
Instead, she urged people with HIV to eat lots of garlic and
beetroot.
Ms Hogan came down from her flat and drank champagne with the
activists.
The Cape Times newspaper reported that Ms Hogan told the serenading
activists she was "deeply touched".
South Africa>s leading Aids lobby group, the Treatment Action Campaign
(TAC), said Ms Hogan had been one of the few MPs to speak out on HIV/
Aids during Mr Mbeki>s time in office.
"She has a reputation for being hard-working, competent and
principled," a TAC statement said.
"We believe that the period of politically supported AIDS denialism
has ended," it said.
Ms Hogan spent eight years in prison in the 1980s for campaigning
against the white minority apartheid government.
She has been an MP for the ruling African National Congress since
apartheid was ended in 1994.
Aids Law Project attorney Fatima Hassan said the group was "ecstatic
about the appointment of Barbara Hogan," the Sowetan newspaper
reports.
"Manto Tshabalala-Msimang should have been replaced a long time ago,"
she said.
Mr Mbeki resigned on Thursday, to be replaced by Kgalema Motlanthe,
who carried out a cabinet reshuffle.
Dr Tshabalala-Msimang was moved to become a minister in the
president>s office.

In vitro effects of beetroot juice and chips on oxidative metabolism
and apoptosis in neutrophils from obese individuals.
Zieliñska-Przyjemska M, Olejnik A, Dobrowolska-Zachwieja A, Grajek W
Phytother Res 2008 Sep 23.
Oxidative stress and inflammation are involved in the development of
obesity. Beetroot (Beta vulgaris var. rubra) is a food ingredient
containing betalain pigments that show antioxidant activity. The in
vitro effect of beetroot juice and chips on oxidative metabolism and
apoptosis in neutrophils from obese individuals has been investigated.
Fifteen obese women (aged 45 +/- 9 years, BMI >30 kg/m(2)) and nine
healthy controls (women, aged 29 +/- 11 years, BMI = 22.2 +/- 1.6 kg/
m(2)) were examined. The investigated products were used as
concentrates and after transport and digestion in an artificial
gastrointestinal tract. Neutrophil oxidant production, in response to
phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate, was characterized by luminol-
dependent chemiluminescence and a flow cytometric dichlorofluorescin
oxidation assay. Caspase-3 activity, a marker of apoptosis, was
measured by cleavage of the fluorogenic substrate Ac-DEVD-AMC.
Neutrophils from obese individuals had a significantly higher ROS
production compared with the controls (p < 0.05). Beetroot products
inhibited neutrophil oxidative metabolism in a concentration-dependent
manner. Also observed were the pro-apoptotic effects of beetroot at a
concentration range of 0.1-10% in 24 h culture of stimulated
neutrophils. These natural products (in both the liquid and solid
state) have antioxidant and antiinflammatory capacity, and could be an
important adjunct in the treatment of obesity. Copyright (c) 2008 John

Inhibitory effects of spices and herbs on iron availability.
Int J Food Sci Nutr 2008 Jul 24.:1-13.
Tuntipopipat S, Zeder C, Siriprapa P, Charoenkiatkul S
Spices and herbs are extensively used in indigenous diets
in tropical regions where prevalence of iron deficiency is still
high.
They are rich in polyphenolic compounds that are expected to
inhibit iron absorption by forming iron complexes in the intestine,
making dietary iron less available for absorption.
The effects of six spices and herbs (chili pepper, garlic, 'Pak
kyheng'
(Thai leafy vegetable), shallot, tamarind, turmeric) and one
mixture of spices (curry paste) on iron availability were determined
by measuring the percentage dialyzable iron after addition of spices
and herbs to a rice meal after simulated digestion.
All tested spices and herbs contained from 0.5 to 33 mg polyphenol per
meal and were potent inhibitors of iron availability (20-90%),
reducing iron availability in a dose-dependent manner-with the
exception of tamarind, which at 11 mg polyphenol per meal enhanced
iron availability.
Our findings demonstrate that culinary spices and herbs can play an
important role in iron nutrition.

Mechanisms of microbial iron acquisition are determinants for the
kinds of cells, tissues and hosts in which pathogens can flourish. As
a corollary, hosts possess an array of iron withholding devices

toimeen. Marsin kivilajeja tutkineiden Harvardin yliopiston ja Stony Brookin
yliopiston tutkijoiden tulokset on julkaistu viimeisimmässä
Science-lehdessä. "Kaikki Maan eliölajit tarvitsevat nestemäistä vettä, ja
siksi vettä on pidetty elämän vähimmäisvaatimuksena myös Marsissa", sanoo
Harvardin post-doc-tutkija Nicholas J. Tosca.
*Pikisuolaista? Outo termi. Suola kyllästää joka tapauksessa mm. Posivan
Siksi Ruotsi on hyllyytämässä epäonnistunutta kuparikapselointia uraanin
loppuisijoituksessa. Siksi kai tätä juttua halutaan hämäysmielessä
modifioida oudosti. Kyse on siis "TVO/Posivakonsortion tulevin
bentoniittimokatermein = "suolakyllästetty vesi"!
"Kaikki Maan vesi ei kuitenkaan tue elämää. Lämpötila, happamuus ja
suolapitoisuus asettavat rajat", Tosca sanoo. Tosca analysoi suolamääriä
neljä miljardia vuotta vanhasta Mars-kivestä, jota ovat tutkineet Nasa:n
Mars Exploration Rover, Opportunity, ja Marsin kiertoradalta toimivat
tutkimusalukset. Mars Roverin havainnot ovat aiemmin antaneet aihetta
innostukseen, kun niiden perusteella on tehty päätelmiä punaisen planeetan
vesiesiintymistä.
"On ajateltu, että vaikka Mars tänään on surkea paikka elää, aiemmin
olosuhteet ovat voineet muistuttaa enemmän Maata, sanoo Harvardin
planeettatutkimuksen professori Andrew Knoll. "Näiden tulosten mukaan Mars
oli kuitenkin jo neljä miljardia vuotta sitten surkea paikka elää. Mars ei
ehkä ikinä ole ollut Maan kaltainen."
Tosca ja Knoll tutkivat Mars-kivien mineraalijäämiä määrittääkseen Marsin
pinnalla joskus olleen veden "vesiaktiviteetin" eli sen, kuinka paljon
vedessä on liuenneita aineita. Vesimolekyylit tarttuvat jatkuvasti
ympäristön liukeneviin molekyyleihin, joten vesiaktiviteetti heijastaa sitä,
kuinka suuri osa vedestä on käytettävissä biologisiin prosesseihin.
Puhtaan veden vesiaktiviteetti on 1,0 ja sen kaikki molekyylit ovat
biologisten prosessien käytettävissä. Meriveden vesiaktiviteetti on 0,98.
Harvat organismit selviävät vedessä, jonka vesiaktiviteetti on alle 0,9 ja
alle 0,85 lukemissa elää tuskin mikään. Mineraalien kemiallinen koostumus
suolaa on käytetty ruoan säilöntäaineena", Tosca muistuttaa. Toscan ja
Knollin tutkimat kivet ovat peräisin Meridiani Planumilta, jonka uskotaan
kuuluneen muinaisen Marsin märimpiin ja elämälle ystävällisimpiin
ympäristöihin.

Ability to quit smoking may depend on ADHD symptoms, Columbia
researchers find
NEW YORK – Tobacco use is more prevalent and smoking cessation less
likely among persons with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
(A.D.H.D.) In a study of smokers with attention deficit and
hyperactivity symptoms, those who exhibited elevated hyperactivity and
impulsivity, with or without inattention, showed lower quit rates
after 8 weeks than those with inattention symptoms alone or those
without the A.D.H.D. symptoms. The study, now available online in
Nicotine and Tobacco Research, could help smokers and physicians to
better tailor cessation treatment for individuals with A.D.H.D.
"Greater understanding of the divergent associations that exist
between the different kinds of A.D.H.D. have important public health
consequences for smoking cessation and decreased tobacco-related
mortality in this population," said the study>s lead author Lirio
Covey, Ph.D., professor of clinical psychology (in psychiatry) at
Columbia University Medical Center and the New York State Psychiatric
Institute.
"The effect of A.D.H.D. by itself on smoking cessation has rarely been
examined; the effects of the individual A.D.H.D. symptoms on smoking
cessation, even less so. To our knowledge, the effects of inattention
or hyperactivity at baseline as separate domains of A.D.H.D. on
cessation treatment outcome have never been examined," Dr. Covey
reported.
During the initial, eight-week phase of a maintenance treatment study,
583 adult smokers, 43 of whom were identified with clinically
significant A.D.H.D. symptom subtypes using the A.D.H.D. Current
Symptom Scale, were treated with the medication buproprion (brand name
Zyban®), the nicotine patch and regular cessation counseling. Compared
to smokers without A.D.H.D., smokers of both A.D.H.D. subtypes
combined showed lower abstinence rates throughout the study.
Breakdown of the A.D.H.D. group by subtype, however, revealed a more
complicated picture. The researchers found that by the end of the
treatment, the proportion of abstainers among A.D.H.D. smokers with
inattention were nearly identical to those without A.D.H.D. (55
percent compared to 54 percent, respectively).
By contrast, the A.D.H.D. subgroup with hyperactivity, with or without
inattention, exhibited lower quit rates throughout the treatment
period compared to smokers without A.D.H.D., essentially finding that
only in the presence of hyperactivity and impulsivity, were
differences observed between smokers with or without A.D.H.D.
symptoms.
"The knowledge gained from further study of how these early onset
disorders of nicotine dependency and A.D.H.D. are related could lead
to early prevention of either one or both of these conditions,"
concluded Dr. Covey. More research is needed to tease out why
hyperactivity causes less cessation success.
The greater propensity to smoke and difficulty quitting among persons
with mental illness is thought to play a role in the "hardening"
phenomenon, or the increased resistance to smoking cessation among
certain smokers.
Much evidence that nicotine improves attentiveness and performance
deficits among persons with A.D.H.D. provides a "self-medicating"
rationale for tobacco use among persons with A.D.H.D. Pre-clinical
data showing that dopamine, a neurotransmitter relevant to attentional
processes and impulse control, is released upon smoking, is consistent
with the self-medication hypothesis.
A.D.H.D. is a neuropsychiatric condition that begins in early
childhood and, in most cases, persists to adolescence and adulthood.
The core symptom domains in A.D.H.D. are inattention and hyperactivity/
impulsivity. A.D.H.D. has been sub-classified into three subtypes:
predominantly inattention, predominantly hyperactivity/impulsivity,
and combined inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity.

Therefore lack of D2 receptors causes individuals to have a high risk
for multiple addictive, impulsive and compulsive behavioral
propensities, such as severe alcoholism, cocaine, heroin, marijuana
andnicotineuse, glucose bingeing, pathological gambling, sex
addiction, ADHD, Tourette>s Syndrome, autism, chronic violence,
posttraumatic stress disorder, schizoid/avoidant cluster, conduct
disorder and antisocial behavior.
In order to explain the breakdown of the reward cascade due to both
multiple genes and environmental stimuli (pleiotropism) and resultant
aberrant behaviors, Blum united this hypodopaminergic trait under the
rubric of a reward deficiency syndrome.

Selenium may slow march of AIDS
Increasing the production of naturally occurring proteins that contain
selenium in human blood cells slows down multiplication of the AIDS
virus, according to biochemists.
"We have found that increasing the expression of proteins that contain
selenium negatively affects the replication of HIV," said K. Sandeep
Prabhu, Penn State assistant professor of immunology and molecular
toxicology. "Our results suggest a reduction in viral replication by
at least 10-fold."
Selenium is a micronutrient that the body needs to maintain normal
metabolism. Unlike other nutrients, which bind to certain proteins and
modulate the protein>s activity, selenium gets incorporated into
proteins in the form of an amino acid called selenocysteine.
These proteins – selenoproteins – are especially important in reducing
the stress caused by an infection, thereby slowing its spread.
Upon infecting a person, the virus quickly degrades selenoproteins so
that it can replicate efficiently. It is unclear just how the virus is
able to silence these proteins but Prabhu and his colleagues believe
that stress inflicted on cells by the rapidly dividing virus, which
produces a key protein known as Tat, is the likely culprit.
Tat is one of about 14 odd proteins produced by HIV during the first
stage of infection. The job of these proteins is to trigger the
expression of all the other genes that the virus needs to sustain
itself. In addition, Tat also plays a key role in helping the virus
replicate.
One of the proteins that targets Tat is a selenoprotein known as TR1.
"Since HIV targets the selenoproteins, we thought that the logical way
to deal with the virus is to increase the expression of such proteins
in the body," explained Prabhu, whose team>s findings are outlined
this week (Nov. 28) in the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
Researchers first isolated blood cells from healthy human volunteers
who did not have HIV, and infected those cells with the virus. Next,
they added tiny amounts of a selenium compound – sodium selenite –
into the cell culture to see the effect on viral replication.
Results from the tests indicate that the addition of selenium inhibits
the replication of HIV at least 10-fold, compared to cell cultures in
which no selenium is added. When the researchers selectively reduced
production of the selenium containing TR1 protein, they observed a 3.5-
fold increase in viral replication.
"This confirms that while increasing the expression of TR1 has a
negative impact on the replication of HIV, reducing it helps the virus
replicate more efficiently," explained Prabhu. He believes that TR1
works by upsetting the chemical structure of Tat, which in turn
reduces the virus' ability to replicate.
"Once we fully understand the function of these selenium proteins, it
will give us a handle to come up with more effective drugs," said
Prabhu, whose work is partly funded by the National Institutes of
Health.

Abstract
Objective:
We tested whether homocysteine is formed from methionine and other
thioethers in vitro and in vivo, because methionine can be chemically
demethylated to homocysteine.
Design:
In in vitro studies, chemical conversions of thioethers (methionine,
S-
adenosylhomocysteine and cystathionine) into homocysteine were
measured under various aerobic conditions. In humans, oral methionine
(0.17mmol/kg body weight) loading tests with and without an oral iron
dose (ferrous sulfate, 1 3 ìmol/kg) were performed.
Setting:
A university setting in Birmingham, AL, USA.
Subjects:
A total of five healthy adult subjects volunteered.
Results:
The in vitro incubation of methionine, S-adenosylhomocysteine or
cystathionine with chelated iron resulted in the formation of
homocysteine.
These conversions were iron- and pH-dependent (pH optima between 5.0
and 6.0) and it was also chelator-dependent. In humans, oral
methionine loading tests resulted in a 45% increase in the area-
under-
the-curve for plasma total homocysteine concentrations, when iron was
given together with methionine.
Conclusion:
Our data suggest that iron-dependent chemical formation of
homocysteine can occur in vivo, and contribute to the plasma total
homocysteine pool, since this formation can occur ceaselessly.
We hypothesize that plasma total homocysteine concentrations reflect,
in part, non-protein-bound iron in the body.

The direct interaction between intravenous iron and homocysteine has
not been reported previously.
Iron chelation with dexrazoxane has been shown to attenuate
homocysteine-induced endothelial dysfunction in normal subjects.
Although there is no consensus on the best analytical approach for
the
detection of NTBI, this pool of iron appears to be biologically
active.

Homocysteine and Depression in Later Life
Osvaldo P. Almeida, MD, PhD, FRANZCP; Kieran McCaul, PhD; Graeme J.
Hankey, MD, FRACP; Paul Norman, PhD, FRACS; Konrad Jamrozik, MBBS,
DPhil; Leon Flicker, MBBS, FRACP, PhD
Arch Gen Psychiatry. 2008;65(11):1286-1294.
Context The prevalence of depression in later life increases with
plasma total homocysteine concentration (tHcy). High tHcy accounts for
about 15% of prevalent cases, but observational studies are prone to
confounding and bias. Genetic association studies are not prone to the
same sources of error and offer an opportunity to explore the
consistency and external validity of this association.
Objective To determine if tHcy is causally related to depression in
later life.
Design Cross-sectional study (Health in Men Study), systematic
review, and meta-analysis.
Patients Community sample of 3752 men aged 70 years or older (Health
in Men Study).
Main Outcome Measures Fifteen-Item Geriatric Depression Scale and
self-reported past or current treatment for depression (Health in Men
Study).
Results In the Health in Men Study, the odds ratio (OR) of prevalent
depression increased 4% (OR, 1.04; 95% confidence interval [CI],
1.02-1.05) with every unit increase of tHcy (micromoles per liter).
The tHcy was 0.19 mg/L higher among participants with the MTHFR C677T
TT genotype compared with the CC genotype. The meta-analysis showed
that older adults with high tHcy had increased risk of depression (OR,
1.70; 95% CI, 1.38-2.08) and TT carriers were 22% more likely than CC
carriers to have current depression or a history of depression (OR,
1.22; 95% CI, 1.01-1.47).
Conclusions The triangular association between the MTHFR genotype,
tHcy, and depression implies that higher concentrations of tHcy
increase the risk of depression and that lowering tHcy by 0.19 mg/L
could reduce the odds of depression by about 20%. Confirmatory data
from sufficiently powered randomized trials of homocysteine-lowering
therapy are now required to test if the relationship between tHcy and
depression is truly causal.[/quote] |

*On suorastaan mielenkintoista huomata muuten miten juuri SUPO:n
konkretisoiden. On tosiaan aika oleellista, että näin estetään kaikin
mahdollisin keinoin ihmisuhreja tajuamasta miten tämä vakoilemisen sähköinen
muoto toteutetaan "katutasolla". Vain kaltaiseni alan ammattilainen
toisaalta osaa hakea niitä systeemiin liittyviä "akilleen kantapäitä"! On
sanomatta selvää, että kannettaviensa akunpoisto ilman, että koneen
fyysiseen toimintaedellytykseen tulee minkäänlaista ongelmaa haittaa
SUPO/NSA porukkojen kaukolukujensa jne. toimia niinpaljon ettei sellaisia
faktoja saa julkituoda! On totta, ettei tällaisia faktoja sallittaisi sitten
Huomaatte miten molemmissa
kuvien reunoissa on kuin hyttysen paskapisteitä miltei samanlaisesti
sikinsokin. Nykyään ne voi olla myös esim. vain UV_valossa näkyviä
valkoisia!! Joka reunassa ja kuvan keskialueilla tämä sama CIA-koodeksi
loistaa mukanaolollaan. Siinä on siis päivämääriä, maatunuksia, koneen
omistajia ja kopiomääreitä ja vastaavia kokonaistietokirjoja. Näillä sitten
vielä vaikka kymmenkertaisísta kopioinneista kyetään täsmähakemaan koko
kirjamateriaalin reitti salaisista arkistoista flaierreihin asti.. .Eli
rakkaat lukijat muistakaa nyt myös tällaisten faktojen olemassaaolot.
Nykyinen teknikan maailma on täynään tämän tyyppisiä ydinalan
sudenkuoppameriä. Toki näihin on erinäisiä "kiertoreittejä" mutta ne osaavat
kiertää lähinnä aniharvat alan huippuosaajat.. ..! |
