This sounds like the fall of Singapore in WW2 to me. A British
officer invented a way of capturing the city. His report was
ignored by the British authorities but studied by the Japanese.

I have, among other reasons, although with a 4,000 nautical mile range
you can get by without close bases. That will prevent you from the
'quick mission module changeout' that is so frequently hyped, though.
