The NASA GISS surface temperature dataset, for which Hansen is
responsible, is notorious for showing a greater increase in temperatures
over recent decades than any other major dataset. Corrections have had
to be made to the GISS dataset in the past. Few serious scientists now
regard it as reliable.
Hansen, whose 1984 paper Schmidt misstates in his second attempt to
discredit me, is linked financially and politically to Al Gore through
repeated donations of many thousands of dollars to Gore>s re-election
campaigns and to those of John Kerry, whose wife recently gave Hansen at
least $250,000 from a charitable fund she administers.
