Just saw a coml about the new Apple G5, and they are saying flat out it is
the most powerful home computer on the face of the planet. Interesting
boast... Would like to know how fast it can knock out a WU? |

Well, they don>t ship until August, so I doubt anyone>s really got a

Apparently the claim "Most Powerful" is flat out wrong. According to
Gertner Group, there are P4 systems that are shipping today that are faster
on every standard benchmark. When Apple tested, they optimized their test
system for the tests, but didn>t do any optimization on the competing
systems. Apple also only reported the tests that were favorable to the G5.

I didn>t know you couldn>t even buy the thing yet. Pretty big statement to
make for something that isn>t even on the shelf yet.
I think this Christmas buyers are going to be in for a real treat with all
the new chips that are going to hit the shelves.
Oh well, my old 400Mhz P3 is paid for, and has served me well for the past 3
or more years.
Hell I still have fond feelings for my Atari 800XL !! |
