Hi,

I have got a corrupt cab-file on my HD which needs to be repaired. Advanced
Cab Repair tells me the file can be fixed but for that I have to order the
full version (50 US$...).

Is there any freeware that can do the same job? Any other way to fix corrupt
cab-files?

Thank you very much for your help!

Greetings, Mark

Hmm, I>ve never heard of this until now. Is it related to the -f (--fix)
switch of cabextract?

Personally, I wouldn>t trust too many products that say "we can save your
data! Send us $...". Does it salvage LZX or Quantum streams? These cannot be
easily resumed like MSZIP. Even with MSZIP, can it tell you exactly which
files are affected? If decompression fails in one 32k block, the error may
or may not be carried further into the stream, and there is no way to tell
as the checksum in CAB files is only checksumming the compressed data, not
the decompressed files.

Send me the cab and I>ll have a look at it.

Thanks for offering, Stuart, but the cab-file is 480MB. Are you sure you
want me to send it? = ; )

Greetings, Mark
