Ha ha! Thanks -- I needed a laugh about this one. I think he is just
young and stupid, but you need to add arrogant to the mix. So I guess
I need to look around and find the easiest, least dangerous road to
simply putting something on record that the guy is careless. What I
need to do is find a new dentist and look to having a good
professional relationship with him/her. My instincts tell me to be
honest and up front with the new dentist from the very first moment.
Some people are telling me that I should lie about it and trick him
into saying that somebody damaged my teeth. That doesn>t sit well
with me. I don>t like subtrefuge and am used to telling the simple
truth because I believe it to be the best way to handle life. Some
people won>t live up to the trust I place in them with my honesty, but
a lot of them will. Would you be put off if somebody told you they
wanted you to check the teeth for damage? I can>t start out with a
lie when I really just want to find a good dentist with whom I can
have a long-term, professional and trusting relationship.

You>re overthinking this. If you feel a need to tell the dentist what
happened, just tell him/her what happened. "Just the facts, Ma>am".
Res ipsa loquitur, and all that. You were nervous after that, just
wanted to find someone new. And if you can use the name of a patient as
a referrer, all the better.

Good luck,
Steve
