Hi all,
I bought new PC as server with 2,4 Pentium4, 512MB, 80GB etc. and run
seti comandline version on it with setispy. I now reach the average time
to crunch unit over 4 hours which seems to too much to me. On Acer
notebook with 1,7Celeron the unit takes about 3:20.
The 2,4PC serves as server with winroute running. is this the problem?
Thanks for ideas.

Check the timing settings in the BIOS, you should be
doing much better than that. Also check task manager
and see if any other program or service is pulling a
high CPU load.

What you mean by timing settings? Of the memory? should it be lower or
higher?
Thanks,

What you will see in the BIOS depends on the motherboard
and RAM type you are using. I can look up the exact settings
you need to change if you can tell me what you have or I can
point you to the URL so you can see for yourself. The downside
to tweaking timing settings is that it can cause your computer
to stop booting but generally you just need to short a jumper on
the motherboard to reset to factory defaults. The upside is
you should be able to get under 3 hours per WU easily...
As for lower or higher on my motherboard I see NORMAL / FAST /
TURBO on a different MB the choices are 100/133/137/140/150/166
it>s just gonna depend on your motherboard.

I have a 2.2 Ghz Celeron, 384 Mb Ram, it takes 11.5 hours per WU.
I have s@h running in the background, and I am usually got several
applications running. The screen saver also displays the graph when
it comes on.
However, even if I wasn>t running anything other than s@h, and the
screensaver is disabled, there doesn>t seem to be much improvement!
How can a 1.7 Celeron do it at 1/3 the time of my 2.2 Celeron??
